Full article is up with photos and video. Video is from a DJI Phantom drone, which flew over the cars on the ice, and captured some crazy drift action.

Looks fun! Nobody with studded tires? Everybody is waaaaay oversteering.
Not sure I'd park a bunch of cars all together on a frozen lake though...

It was 18+ inches thick (TWSS) but I don't think anyone really did the math to see if the lineup was safe. Anyhoo, it held :)
I don't recall seeing any studded tires, could be wrong though. Mostly winter tires and all-seasons.
